Tips for Environmental Reporting
Environmental issues aren't simple to cover. It's easy to quote reports, but the technical terms and unfamiliar units are off-putting to many readers.
Statistics for Action has created a set of Tips for Environmental Reporting*. These tips are designed to help journalists sift through the data, and to make the terms, units, ratios, and risks more understandable to their readers. Many seasoned environmental reporters are already familiar with these ideas, but can use our resource as a checklist. Reporters who cover general local news may find these tips especially useful when a big local environmental story comes up.
* This resource is designed to be printed as a booklet (left binding, "portrait" orientation), but can also be printed normally.
